Have You Ever Wondered How to Grow Your Faith in God?
I am so thankful that I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but I often wonder if my faith is big enough. So I decided to dig into the question of how to grow your faith in God. Come along and dig in deep with me too.
What is Faith and How to Grow Your Faith in God?
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
Dictionary.com defines faith as “belief that is not based on proof.” I’m not sure that’s true. It also says “belief in God or the doctrines or teachings of religion”. We can believe in God but his proof is in what he does. How did we get here? Who created mankind and the universe? I know that’s a deep topic. It’s certainly a whole different direction than I wanted to go. So let’s focus on faith!
You can’t see him or touch him, but you know God is there. That is the power of faith! We can see proof of God everywhere we look. But how do you grow your faith in God? First, you have to trust that he is and you have to ask Jesus into your heart. Because without a personal relationship with Jesus, you cannot grow your faith.
How to grow your faith in God starts with a relationship with Him. Before you can do that you must accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. This is also known as being saved or born again.

How do I Accept Jesus as my Savior?
The following is called the Roman’s Road map to Heaven. Do you know that if you died today, you would go to Heaven? If you could know for sure, would you do what the Bible says?
Who is Good?
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:10
Who Has Sinned?
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
Where Did Sin Come From?
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned. Romans 5:12
Our Way Out
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13
Take God at His word and claim His promise for your salvation. Bow your head right now and sincerely ASK Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and save your soul.
Once you have a personal relationship with Jesus, you can talk to God, our Heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ. Jesus gave his life as a ransom for your own. The more you praise him and pray to him, the more you will see God working in your life and in the lives of those you pray for. This is how to increase your faith in God.
What Does it Mean to be Close to God?
Once you become saved, the Holy Spirit comes to live within you. This is that conscience that you feel that convicts you to do right and wrong. Living close to God means that you’re living in faith daily, not just when life gets tough. Talk to God throughout the day. Praise Him when it’s a beautiful day.
One of my favorite places to study my Bible is out on our back deck. We’re surrounded by trees and flowers. You can hear the river nearby flowing. The birds are singing. I can’t help but thank God for all of his creation.
Pray
In the Christian community, it’s quite natural to get prayer requests from others all the time. When that happens, talk to God. Put the power of faith to work. Petition him on behalf of your friends, then thank him when prayers are answered.
Church Membership
Follow the example of Jesus and get baptized into a local New Testament church that teaches true Bible doctrines. Learn about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Sing praises unto God and worship him in church. You can sing, worship, and learn outside of church capacity too, but you need that sweet fellowship that only your church family can bring.
Choose God
Plan your day by choosing God over worldly things. What are you watching on TV? What about music and books? Would Jesus be doing those things? Make good choices. I say that to my kids all the time. Rely on God. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Think about God throughout the day.
Read your Bible. Study your Bible. Do devotionals. Learn. Experiment with Bible journaling. I wrote a great post called How to Start Bible Journaling for Beginners to help you learn how it’s done.
