Have You Ever Wanted a List of the Best Rainy Day Activities for Adults?
Well, I aim to please! While we’re no longer stuck indoors due to the COVID-19 trauma, there’s still never a bad time to share with you my list of rainy day activities for adults. I know that it’s frustrating to be stuck inside, whether it’s rain, snow, illness, or quarantine. But thankfully, this recent time of difficulty and social distancing has passed, and now we can just talk about rainy-day ideas. Sound good?
So what do we do when we’re stuck indoors? What kind of adult rainy-day activities can we do that give us alternatives to watching TV all day or scrolling mindlessly through Facebook? We need some fun things to do on a rainy day for adults. Am I right?
I have scrolled the internet to find 75+ of the best rainy-day activities for adults that I could find. I’ll be honest. I was pretty impressed with some of the virtual options that are available. (I added the plus because I continue to find fun things to add to this list. I hope you don’t mind?)
I realize that we don’t always want to be attached to our technology as the only option. And you won’t. But there are some pretty cool ways to plug into what would normally be a fun, indoor activity.
So without further ado, I present to you…
75+ of the Best Rainy-Day Activities for Adults
Before we start with some fun, rainy-day ideas, my normal go-to is to make sure everything is orderly in my home. I have an aversion to clutter and hold fond memories of an activity called the 27 Fling Boogie I used to do with the kids. (Side note, my kids, when younger, didn’t mind clutter or having no space in which to walk to get from one side of the room to the other.)
The concept of the 27 Fling Boogie comes from the FlyLady. I fell in love with her systems back when I had hands and could implement them. So if you love organization, you owe it to yourself to check her out.
Before we get underway, let me tell you about this very fun game to play with your family. Have you heard of an Escape Room? Imagine if you could get the best of an Escape Room, all in a box. Well, now with a couple of mouse clicks, you can bring one home.
Get your very own Escape Room Kit delivered right to your inbox. It’s a clever mix of a board game, a treasure hunt, and mind-bending puzzles. It’s a perfect way to make good memories with friends, colleagues, children, or your family.

So, what new inside activities for adults have you found on this list that you can’t wait to try? Be sure to leave them in the comments below. I’m excited to add to my list.
What I like to do is light a candle and relax.
Ah yes, taking care of yourself. What a great idea!
Excellent post, Thanks.
You’re very welcome, Rehoboth. Thanks for reading.
Excellent post
Thanks
Thank you so much. Glad you liked it.
Thanks for the inspiration! We have a three day weekend coming up with below zero temps and a snowstorm coming in. Some INSIDE activities will be GREAT!
I’m glad you found some fun, snowy day activities for your weekend. We’re currently in a blizzard ourselves. Enjoy!
I love these ideas! I definitely picked up my knitting needles again and I have been reading more books. There is a sunny side to a rainy day!
Absolutely, Haley. I never got the hang of knitting. But reading, I like. Hope you’re doing well.
So far I’ve cleaned my closet! It’s so tiring. I like playing my guitar, too, to pass time.
That’s great, Elisha. Will you check out the free lessons on Fender? 75 items gives you a lot to choose from.
It’s so easy to get into the habit of being lazy with all this time on our hands, but this is so useful for changing that
So true, Stephen. I hope you find some great things to do from this list to take away that laziness. Have fun.
Love these ideas Wendy. I am definitely keeping these pinned to look at for day to day things to do with my littles while I am home. Hope all is well with you.
That’s awesome, Brittany. I hope you enjoy some great, fun new activities to do with the kiddos. Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope all is well.
This social distancing and self-isolation actually isn’t a huge deal for me coz I’ve been used to this lifestyle. I’m an introvert and an introvert can relate. Just don’t think much about what is happening coz you already have an idea about COVID-19 and safety that you needed.
Keep safe, Blair and thanks for reading. I’m an introvert, empty nester who is home alone during the day. So I keep pretty busy. But there’s always room to try something new to break up the monotony.
Those are all wonderful activities to do during the quarantine. I’ve actually done some of those already and will do more from the list.
It sounds like you’ve been keeping busy, Lyanna. Enjoy working through the rainy day activities for adults list.
Oh wow there are some really good ideas here for sure. I like the sound of a quarantine cake xx
Thanks, Melanie. I agree, doesn’t a quarantine cake sound great? And a quarantine lasagna, a quarantine ice cream sundae and so on and so on, haha.
I think it’s nice to start a blog now since everything is online. Also, they have more time to write. Playing video games can be nice but it’s a bit not productive.
I agree on both points, Emman. Blog yes, video games, no. There’s so many better productive things we can do with our time.
These are such valuable ideas! I cannot wait to use some of these with my toddler.
That’s so great, Rachael. Have a great time.
These are great ideas. I’m doing some of them. Exercise is one one, something I complained about never having time for, and now I have no excuse. Thank you for doing the research on ideas we can do during this crazy time.
Thank you, Marcie. So much time, so little ideas. I’m happy to provide a list of rainy day activities. I hope you enjoy.
It is always great to find new things to do during this lockdown. We certainly are in need of entretaiment!
We certainly do need entertainment ideas, Daniel. Enjoy my rainy day activities for adults list.
what a terrific list. funny enough someone just sent me a pack of “old maid’ cards. 🙂 stay safe
I used to LOVE playing Old Maid. My goodness, I haven’t heard about that game in years. Have fun.
I have been feeling blue for the past days now because of the corona virus plus the rain…. Which made me search for things to do when raining! Glad to stumble upon this blog. Currently doing a vision board!
I’m so happy that you found my blog and my list of rainy day activities for adults. Have fun with your vision board and whatever you choose next.
i really love the idea of learning magic tricks , i wish i thought of it ealier – it is so hard to keep kids busy during rainy days
Hi Pati, I can definitely see kids excited to learn magic tricks. My sisters and I loved it as kids. My own kids had a blast too.
I love these challenges. As for me, I would like to write a letter. <3 I think it's so thoughtful and sweet…
Very true. A handwritten, personalized letter is a great gift to the recipient.
Thanks for the tips! It was rainy last week, and then the sun comes out during Easter. I will take note and I am sure me and my kids will all be having fun during the rainy days as well – Knycx Journeying
Rainy days or Quarantine, Knycx, this list will serve any purpose for being stuck at home.
Wow – this is truly an amazing list. There is just no way anyone reading this could claim that they can think of nothing to do and would die of boredom at home. I just love the breadth and variety of ideas you have provided here. Great ways to fill times like rainy days and of course the current isolation associated with the Covid 19 pandemic.
Thank you so much, Nicole. I tried to fill a variety of interests and allow enough opportunity away from the tv, phone or laptop.
These are great ideas! I can’t imagine being a kid in this time of quarantine. I remember how bored I used to get on a REGULAR summer day. LOL
Exactly, Surekha. Even my grown kids are bored. I can’t imagine how the littles feel. Praying it’s over soon.
These are excellent ideas. Every day is a rainy day when you’re quarantined. The more we can do to keep our kids occupied and learning, the more our children will have fun and not be miserable.
I agree, Brianne. Show your kids some of the virtual museum tours and the animal cam. Who doesn’t love watching live animals?
Thanks for a great list of ideas to keep busy during this time. We are keeping busy around our house and it’s been good.
You’re very welcome, Ginger. Most of the time we have a honey-doo list, my kids rephrased it to the the Corona-do list. 75 things should keep us busy for a while.
Finally someone talk about the adults activities This is so great I’ve been watching Netflix Money Heist.
Exactly, Jessica. Most of what’s out there is, what to do with your kids? Well what about the adults? I’m your girl. Have fun.
Oh thank you!
We were just talking about finding a post like this for tips on what to do during quarantine. Awsome, I am so saving this!
That’s so great, Ann. I’m happy to help you. Enjoy the activities.
